Youth Health Care Utrecht

Youth Health Care Utrecht (JGZ) provides advice and support regarding health, growth, development and parenting. JGZ works with multiple health care professionals, such as doctors, nurses, medical trained assistants and speech therapists. Whenever necessary, JGZ also offers help by directing you further to the correct care provider. All children, up to 18 years, will receive invitations for periodic health examinations and vaccinations. JGZ is situated in youth health centers across the city (‘consultatiebureau’/well baby clinic) and  visits the schools in Utrecht.

Children from 0 to 4 years

You will receive invitations to come to the health center to examine your child’s development. Questions you may have concerning care, parenting and development can be addressed. The health center also has ‘Walk in hours’, in which you are welcome to drop in for an extra visit in between appointments. For instance, if you have concerns about your child's weight, or for a short question concerning your child’s overall development. Please check the schedule of your health center.

Children from 4 to 18 years

Children are periodically monitored on health, growth and overall development. During these sessions the children are measured and weighed and, - if or when needed – their hearing and eyesight can be checked. Concerns regarding your child's health, growth, development or behaviour can be discussed with you and your child. For instance concerns regarding speech, language development, motor skills, toilet training, social media, nutrition, mental health or peer pressure. The topics may vary depending on your child’s age and development.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations according to the Dutch National Immunisation Programme are highly recommended. In regard to this our youth doctor will develop a vaccination plan based on your child's vaccination history. After this is completed your child will automatically receive an appointment for the remaining vaccinations. More information about this topic can be found on the Dutch National Immunisation Programme website
